Tips For Packing Boxes When Moving

Packing boxes
Whether you this is your first major move or you have moved home several times before, the thought of packing boxes is preparation for the move can overwhelm anybody. After all, if you are moving home, you literally have to pack up all of your household belongings including the furniture, the kitchen items, kid's toys and clothes and that's only a part of it. One of the best things you can do to avoid huge stress levels when packing boxes is to start well in advance. So where do you start?

The first thing you need to do is to sort out all your household belongings. Keep aside all those items that you do not need and do not intend moving and put all of those items out of the way. Then itemize all your wanted belongings so you have an idea of the amount of stuff you are planning on moving. This is important as it will help you figure out how many boxes for moving you are going to need as well as what size of boxes you will need.

When you are itemizing your items, it will help to list them in categories. Make an approximate assessment of the amount of books, clothes, toys, crockery, kitchen gadgets and other miscellaneous items that you will need to pack.  Once you have got your list ready, it is now time to look for boxes for moving.

Boxes for moving come in a wide range of dimensions ranging from small boxes for packing fragile, breakable curios to large boxes for your other personal items. When looking for packing boxes, it is important to remember that it is always better to use specially made boxes for moving. This is because these boxes are reinforced for carrying your previous items from one place to another without damaging them. Moreover, these boxes often come designed with handles, which make them easier to carry from the home to the transport and then out to the transport to your new home.

To make for easier unloading at your new home, keep separate packing boxes for each room.  Boxing for moving your kitchen items should be kept separate and labeled as such; similarly for boxes for moving items from your bedroom, the kid's bedrooms, the dining room and the living room. This way, at your new home, the boxes can go right away in the appropriate room and unpacked without any additional and unnecessary effort.

Remember, when packing boxes, it makes more sense to distribute the weight of amongst the boxes for moving. For example, if you pack all of your books in one or two large packing boxes, you will find it almost impossible to lift the box. Instead, it is a far better idea to pack a few books in a medium size box and fill in the remaining space with linen or pillows or perhaps your duvet, which is bulky but not heavy. Fragile items should be individually wrapped in bubble wrap before putting them in the box. Fill in the space in between either with rolled up newspaper or small items of clothing such as socks so that the items so not move around and break.
